Polarity management is a universal framework and set of principles applied to problem solving and conflict resolution. It helps individuals identify and manage chronic issues that are seemingly unavoidable and unsolvable. While some issues are problems with a definite answer, the more challenging issues are polarities' situations in which either side has benefits and drawbacks. In this webcast, Amy Martinez, Cone Health's executive director for organizational effectiveness, and Abigail Dunne-Moses, senior faculty with the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), will discuss their process for developing Cone physicians capacity for polarity management. They will discuss how polarity management increases in value as the issues faced increase in complexity, diversity, and resistance to change.

Amy is the executive director of organizational effectiveness for Cone Health in Greensboro, North Carolina. In her role, she leads a team that oversees physician leadership as well as leadership development, performance consulting, and coaching for both Cone administrative and physician leaders. Additionally, she provides executive coaching and strategic partnership to Cone Health's physician leaders and senior leaders.
Amy has worked for a number of organizations spanning various industries in learning and development and organizational effectiveness (OE) roles. Amy worked for several years as senior faculty at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), where she designed and delivered customized leadership programs for clients in many different industries. While at CCL, she was also responsible for facilitating CCL's open enrollment programs, providing integrated feedback coaching to program participants, and serving as lead faculty and mentor coach for a large custom coaching engagement. In late 2012, Amy left CCL and returned to the healthcare industry in an OE leadership capacity. Past employers include Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Starbucks Coffee Company (company headquarters), Corbis (a privately owned Bill Gates company), and Columbia Hospitality. Amy has an MA in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and a BA in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
Abigail is a senior faculty member at the Center for Creative Leadership. Her focus is designing and delivering custom leadership programs for managers and executives, as well as consulting in the organizational leadership practice area.
Prior to joining CCL, Abigail was an independent consultant. She has delivered performance management training, leadership development training, and organization development consulting to many Fortune 500 companies. During the past 21 years, her work has inspired transformation and development in prominent corporations that span multiple industries, including petroleum, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and financial services. She developed and delivered curricula that focused on performance management, personal development, organization development, and diversity. In conjunction with her corporate experience, Abigail has spent more than 10 years in the nonprofit sector as a speaker and counselor focusing on individual and leadership development. Abigail’s passion for consulting is born out of her life and educational experiences on three continents, namely Africa, Europe, and North America. Abigail attended Harvard University, where she received a BA and MEd in psychology. She completed an intensive consultant training program, and is a certified Emotional Intelligence Consultant.
