ATD Research and ATD International recently embarked on their first truly global assessment of talent development outlooks, resources, and practices. ATD research analyst Maria Ho and ATD International director Wei Wang will be presenting some important findings from this research, which is compiled in full in the report Global Trends in Talent Development.
By looking at key metrics (including learning hours, budgets, and delivery methods) and top trends and challenges for talent development by global regions, this research will aid talent development professionals in benchmarking their practices against those of their peers in their own region. It offers comparisons across regions (Asia-Pacific; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; North America; and Latin America) and, in some cases, groupings by workforce size.

Maria Ho joined ATD as a research analyst in 2014. She authors research reports and other research products, analyzes data, and develops research plans and quantitative models. Maria also promotes and presents ATD’s research by blogging, posting on social media, and giving presentations. She is especially interested in performance measurement and evaluation and the influence of new technologies on training.
Prior to joining ATD, Maria was a public policy researcher, data analyst, and writer at the Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, D.C. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University and a master’s degree in economics from Johns Hopkins University.
Wei Wang is the director of international relations for ATD. In this capacity, she manages ATD International strategic partners from more than 20 countries, develops and supports member convening and networking programs, and facilitates the exchange of knowledge among the global learning and development community. Wei’s other role at ATD is manager of the ATD Global HRD Community of Practice. In this role, she supports professionals around the world in order for them to share regional best practices, conducts global benchmarking, and discusses cross-cultural and global talent development issues.
Wei holds a PhD in human resource development from the Pennsylvania State University, and a master's degree in management from Nankai University in China. She is also a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance. Wei speaks Mandarin and English.
