There is no doubt that engaged employees are vital to an organization’s long-term success. Researchers and organizations confirm that highly engaged employees are more productive, innovative, customer-focused, profitable, and committed to the success of their organizations. Therefore, it is essential for organizational leaders, employers, and decision-makers to understand how to evaluate employee engagement levels in order to develop their employees and improve their organizations.

The focus of this interactive webcast is to offer practical tips and strategies on measuring engagement. After attending the webcast, you will be able to:

  • identify key employee engagement components
  • explain why it’s important to measure engagement
  • demonstrate how to use metrics and instruments for measuring engagement.

Rashed Alzahmi
Rashed Alzahmi

PhD Candidate, PSU

Rashed A. Alzahmi is a PhD candidate in workforce education and development, with an emphasis on human resources development and organization development at The Pennsylvania State University. He also earned Master's of Science and Bachelor's of Science degrees in Workforce Education and Development from Penn State, and an Associate’s degree in accounting from Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Prior to his PhD study, Alzahmi worked in Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the UAE for seven years where he was the head of the scholarship department. He was responsible for training and recruiting hundreds of talented individuals through various educational and training programs. He also served as a member on the Board of Trustees in the Glenelg School of Abu Dhabi for three years. His current research interests revolve around workforce planning, succession planning, human resource development, work engagement, organization development, and performance consultation.


Olga Buchko
Olga Buchko

PhD Candidate, Penn State University

Olga V. Buchko is a PhD Candidate in the duel-title program of Human Resource Development and Organizational Change and Comparative and International Education at the College of Education, Penn State University. She came to the United States in 2010 through the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program, a Fulbright exchange activity designed for experienced professionals from designated countries throughout the world. She earned masters degrees from Taurida National University in Simferopol, Ukraine, and South Ukrainian State Pedagogical University in Odessa, Ukraine.

Olga has seven years of experience working as an instructor in higher education, and as an HR and project manager in non-government organizations. Her research interests relate to career development and talent management.


Dr. Jennifer Myers
Dr. Jennifer Myers

Ph.D., PSU

Dr. Myers is a Practioner in the field of Human Resource Development for the federal government. She holds a PhD from The Pennsylvania State University in Workforce Education and Development, specializing in Human Resource Development and Organization Development. She received her Masters degree from Boston University and is also a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Prior to transitioning to her current position, She served as an Instructor for the Professional Personnel Development Center (PPDC) at Penn State. Dr. Myers is also an Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) veteran and is a recipient of numerous service awards, some of which include the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Bolder, Meritorious Unit Award, and multiple Commendation Medals. She served in the United States Air Force and was a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI).

Dr. Myers' current research interests are employee engagement, organization development, and strategic planning.. She is also an author and co-author of multiple publications and presentations focused on engagement, diversity, healthcare, and career development.
